About Us

The Idaho Falls Youth Hockey program is geared towards the recreational player wishing to participate in the sport of ice hockey, improve their skills and compete at their own skill level. Everyone plays on “House League” teams which meet twice per week on weekday evenings for games and practices from early November through mid March. Players are placed on teams based upon their USA Hockey age classification and skills evaluation. IFYHA strives to build teams as competitively even as possible to enhance competition and promote skill development. Since the focus of “House League” teams is on skill development, the IFYHA policy is to provide “equal ice-time” for all players without regard to skill level. All “House League” practices and games (Bantams and younger) are held locally at the Wayne Lehto & Joe Marmo Ice Rink in Idaho Falls, ID. High School players can expect to have 2-4 “away” game venues during the season, with all practices in Idaho Falls.

The IFYHA also hosts competitive “Travel Teams” in the Squirt and older age divisions that compete with teams from other youth hockey associations. These teams are comprised of the association’s most accomplished players and are selected through an independent evaluation process. These teams generally practice once per week and play between 20 and 40 games per season. These teams compete for the Idaho State Championship and may enter the USA Hockey Tier II National Championship tournaments. Players on these select teams also play for the local “House League” teams.

The Idaho Falls youth hockey program begins in early November and runs through mid March of each year. Registrations for the upcoming season open in October of each year. For additional information about IFYHA and/or our hockey program, please use the contact form provided below.
